News from the New Stadium

gavin sharpe holyhead hotspurWe are pleased to announce the capture of three signings for the coming season.

Midfielder Gavin Sharpe, who lined up for Llanerchymedd last season. Gavin can operate anywhere across the midfield, and his quality in possession and positional awareness will make him a very good signing.

Gavin who has also had spells at Llangefni Town and Bodedern, was also part of Chris Morrell's UEFA Regions Cup squad that triumphed in Estonia in summer 2014.

We are also pleased to announce that Melvin McGuiness has signed for the 2016/17 season. Melvin transferred to Gaerwen last season before coming back to the club to finish the season with our reserve team. Melvin is a feared striker and will no doubt be an asset next season as the club try to improve on last season’s 8th place finish.

mel mcguiness holyhead hotspurAssistant Manager Darren Garmey said of the two “Gavin is a player who we have kept an eye on for the past few years, he is comfortable with both feet and can play anywhere across the midfield. He has fitted in with the lads really well already and I'm sure he will find the step up in standard no problem at all.”

“Melvin needs no introduction. When fully fit he is one of the best strikers in the region, if he stays fit and focused he will no doubt be an important part of our plans this year.”

Tconnor hughes holyhead hotspurhe third signing joining the squad is goalkeeper Connor Hughes. Connor was named player of the year at Llanfairpwll last season and will come in to compete with Paul Pritchard for the Hotspur No 1 jersey.

“Connor spent many years at Wrexham as a youth player and has also played for his hometown club Bodedern. Connor has a very good all round game and will no doubt improve further more under the guidance on goalkeeper coach Mervyn Williams.”
