News from the New Stadium

Since joining the above league in 1998 Holyhead Hotspur had not been asked to host the annual event, but ‘better late than never’ as they say with this year’s get together of the Huws Gray Alliance clubs officials for the yearly report turning out to be a resounding success and held on a very warm day with the feedback showing it was well received by everyone.

With the forthcoming 2018/19 campaign being the final Cymru Alliance League in its present format due to the restructuring of the Welsh Pyramid structure, secretary Chas Rowland began the proceedings by informing all the clubs of the end of season party to be held in June 2019 at the Imperial Hotel Llandudno.

The HGA will revert back to 16 clubs for the next season as Queens Park (Wrexham), Llandudno Junction and Caersws were relegated while Buckley Town, Conwy Boro and Llanrhaedr ym Mochnant come back into the league with awards for the first two for coming back at their first attempt. 

The new season will commence on the week end 10th/11th August.

In the awards section Caersws were top of the disciplinary table for 2017/18 despite being relegated. The best official programme was adjudged to be that of Airbus Broughton who also took the ‘Club of the Season’ prize. Manager of the Season was Sean Eardley of Caernarfon Town who were champions and promoted to the Welsh Premier League.  

Llyr Morris of Ruthin Town was voted ‘Player of the Season’ and well as being ‘Leading goal scorer’.

All the clubs remarked what a superb buffet had been arranged by Sheila Owen of Holyhead Hotspur committee, the best ever (and it was said Gareth Davies)
