News from the New Stadium

At a well attended meeting chairman Mike Taylor welcomed everyone and particularly thanked the outgoing committee and our faithful supporters, sponsors, advertisers and volunteers. Much work had been done on the ground in the close season and further work is scheduled for the next twelve months.

The AGM of the Huws Gray Alliance league had been held at the club house the previous Saturday and the club was complemented on the organization and the buffet supplied.

The secretary thanked Mike for his work and was glad to hear that although he was standing down as chairman he would still be active in the club’s affairs and assist the grounds staff in their work at the Stadium. The club has obtained its Tier 2 Licence which will be a requirement every year. Changes are afoot in the Welsh pyramid system in that in season 2019/20 the Huws Gray league will become the Championship North with only two feeder leagues (instead of the three at present) and this is replicated in the South. All Managers will need to have an FAW ‘B’ Licence to manage clubs in Championship leagues.

The treasurer said it had been a difficult season financially but there are several initiatives being introduced by the Fund Raising committee which should make life easier for the club this coming season. Season tickets are on sale at a price of £30 but this ticket excludes entrance to the Mike Kelly Testimonial on Saturday 7th July. Hotspur are hosting Sheffield United U23’s with a 3pm kick off and a commemorative Programme is being produced. Later at 5.30pm there is another match with two of Mike Kelly’s select teams playing each other. The day which starts at 1pm will be a Fun Day with bouncy castle, face painting and other attractions for the kids and will be rounded off with a disco/karaoke in the club house until ‘late’

Cllr Mrs Beryl Warner BEM was re elected President as were Chris Evans (Derby County) and Gordon Taylor as Vice Presidents. The newly elected Chairman and Vice Chairman are Ben Williams and Emlyn Manley Williams respectively. Richard Parry remains as Secretary and Mrs Debbie Jones as Treasurer and Dylan Edwards as Youth Representative and Barry Roberts as Supporters Representative.

The committee comprises of Mrs Sian Hodgson, Mrs Sheila Owen, Mrs Adrienne Edwards, Mrs Karen Weeks, Dave Hughes, John Maguire, Steve Williams, Chris Marshall, Kevin Lewis, Howell Hughes, Mark Owen, Andy Batsford, Michael Bailey, Geoff Capstick, and Alex Jones as Players Representative.

The Team Managers and assistants appointments are First Team Manager Darren Garmey assistant Nick Dumbarton, the Reserves Manager is Mike Kelly assisted by Tom Scott, Martin Mc Clymont and John Jones.

In the committee meeting that followed a discussion took place about Mike Kelly’s Testimonial Match arrangements. It was confirmed that the FAW had sanctioned the match. Some work in preparation for next season still needs to be finished at the Stadium and Ben will be arranging another ‘work day’ which will be advertised. At the next meeting on Wednesday 4th July 6.30pm we will discuss Social Media, Fund raising and ensure all is in place for Saturday 7th.
