Holyhead Hotspur pressed the self destruct button for the fourth successive game at the New Stadium! Following the three previous opening fixtures when Hotspur had a man sent off against Llanidloes, Guilsfield and more recently Conwy, they went one better this time around when ending up with nine men on the pitch, while Flints Stewart Carroll joined Dean Garmey for an early shower both for violet conduct on 71 minutes.
However this time the hosts were down to ten men as far as the second minute when Tom Taylor held back Shaun Beck in a last man situation and well up against it for all the game!
It didnt get any better for the hosts when Gareth Jones Evans was injured on 15 minutes and didnt take any further part. Alex Jones slotting alongside Rhys Roberts. Despite the disadvantage Hotspur defended well throughout the game with Keeper Carl Jones making a number of excellent stops. Indeed early on 20th minute Holyhead should have gone ahead but Flint custodian Richard Walker denied Dale Murphy and Ryan Jones in a succession of stops. However, the 10 men were undone 4 minutes after the break when Gareth Roberts drove wide of Jones into the corner of the net.
